During the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana, the Kazatomprom and Uranium One, a ROSATOM global mining company, signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in industrial process automation at joint Kazakhstan-Russian uranium mining enterprises. Kazatomprom and Uranium One expressed their interest in strengthening cooperation to develop and implement unified approaches to the automation of industrial, financial and management processes, as well as to introduce the most modern digital technologies in geological exploration and mine development. The strategic cooperation between Kazatomprom and Uranium One in developing digital technologies is aimed at improving the operational efficiency and process automation of the joint uranium mining enterprises. Partner companies have been working together for many years, and they have successfully carried out various projects in geological exploration and the exploitation of uranium deposits. Currently, there are five joint ventures in Kazakhstan: JV Karatau, JV Akbastau, JV Zarechnoe, JV YuGKhK and JV Khorasan-U. Progressive and environmentally friendly in-situ recovery method is used to produce uranium.
